CareCorps Volunteers
A heritage of caring at Cisco, formerly Scientific
Atlanta, has laid a solid foundation for our CareCorps
program today. Rooted in a variety of volunteer and giving
programs that are an important part of our past, CareCorps
projects offer employees convenient and consistent
opportunities that have an impact on the community.
By giving of their time, talent and treasure, Scientific
Atlanta employees help make a better place to live, work and
play. In 2007, CareCorps volunteers contributed in a variety
of ways. Some of our most memorable projects included the
following:
- Partnering with Junior Achievement where volunteers
shared real-world experience by teaching and mentoring
elementary students on a variety of subjects.
-
Participating in a wide range of
fundraising events where raising money also raised
community awareness of critical health and human
services issues and provided relief to global natural
disasters. In 2007, employee contributions worldwide
exceeded $470,000 in campaigns for the American Cancer
Society, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, United
Way as well as American Red Cross disaster relief
efforts.
- Supporting high school students in the FIRST
Robotics Competition providing valuable mentoring time
to students and real-life experience in the fields of
science, math and engineering.
- Partnering with Habitat for Humanity and allowing
volunteers to raise low-income families’ self esteem by
making the seemingly unreachable goal of home ownership
a reality.
- Conducting a "Back to School" drive for Foster
Children's Foundation providing school supplies, back
packs and other necessary personal products for our
foster kids.
