Vice President and General Manager, Digital Media Networks
As vice president and general manager of Digital Media Networks,
Dean Rockwell is responsible for leading the direction for broad
range of products and technology that include digital video
encoding, decoding, digital content management, digital
modulation and management, monitoring and control software
systems, worldwide. Scientific-Atlanta’s Digital Media Networks
has locations in Atlanta, Toronto, Kortrijk and Copenhangen.
Rockwell, who has been with company for 18 years, has for the
past 2 years held the dual role of vice president and general
manager of Transmission Networks, Europe and vice president and
general manager for the BarcoNet Products worldwide. He will
select his successor for TNS Europe and will have this position
reporting to him.
Rockwell has progressively assumed more leadership
responsibilities and has proven his extensive operations
experience, technology expertise and marketing insight to help
Scientific-Atlanta’s customers design, develop and deploy the
transmission networks that will enable them to launch the
services that customers want.
Prior to taking on the leadership of Transmission Networks
Systems, Europe and the BarcoNet Product lines, Rockwell served
as vice president and general manager of the Media Networks
business and vice president and general manager of the company’s
Headend Systems Division in Atlanta. Before joining
Scientific-Atlanta, he worked in Vancouver for Nexus Engineering
Corporation, which was acquired by Scientific-Atlanta in 1993.
There he spent time in engineering, manufacturing engineering,
operations and product management.
In addition to his degree in Electrical Engineering Technology
from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Rockwell has
completed the “mini MBA” Management Skills for Advanced
Technology program at Simon Fraser University in British
Columbia and has participated in a number of other graduate
studies programs over the years.
