Release Date: May 3, 2007
KORTRIJK,
BELGIUM – Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco company, today announced T-HT Croatia (T-Hrvatski
Telekom) has selected its Model IPP330HD™ IP set-tops for the rollout of T-HT
Croatia’s IPTV service. T-HT Croatia is deploying these next-generation set-tops
to deliver advanced services, including high-definition television (HDTV) to
help expand its subscriber base and provide greater differentiation for its
service portfolio and even greater value for its customers.
Scientific Atlanta’s IP set-tops integrate MPEG-4/H.264 and MPEG-2 compression
capabilities, as well as support for high definition and other advanced
services. This provides a flexible, powerful IP set-top platform that is ready
to support today’s services as well as those that will emerge in the future. T-HT’s
IPTV services delivery network incorporates Cisco® 12000 Series Routers and
Cisco Catalyst® 6500 Series Switches.
“In today’s rapidly changing video delivery environment, flexibility and rapid
time to market are key components in T-HT Croatia’s business strategy,” said
Vedran Perišić, IPTV product manager at T-HT Croatia. “Cisco and Scientific
Atlanta, with its extensive heritage of creating advanced-feature set-tops, were
able to meet our very aggressive schedule, to deliver a set-top that supported
our network environment, and to provide us with the type of versatile IPTV
platform we needed for future expansion of our customer base.”
In addition to the flexibility of supporting multiple middleware platforms,
SCART video connectors and PAL video format standards, Scientific Atlanta was
also able to modify the IPP330HD set-top to work with T-HT Croatia’s existing
remote controls. This streamlines the use of the set-tops to deliver a
consistent viewing experience for existing customers while minimizing additional
deployment requirements for T-HT Croatia.
T-HT Croatia, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, joins a growing list of
operators across Europe and North America that have selected Scientific Atlanta
IP set-tops for the launch of advanced video services. Shipments of the IPP330HD
set-tops began in December 2006 and are continuing as T-HT Croatia expands its
IP customer base.
