ROSA EM

Client Options
Several options are available to technicians and engineers for remotely accessing the ROSA EM. Each option has specific features that are designed to meet the specific needs of the various types of management system users. There are four fundamental client options available for the ROSA EM: a simple web browser, TNCS client, ROSA client, and third party Network Management Systems.

  • Simple Web Browser

    • The user will open one web browser window for each ROSA EM site to manage the network. This is an ideal application for small systems that have only one or two sites with ROSA EM installed.

  • TNCS Client

    • The TNCS client will aggregate all of the ROSA EM sites to produce a single network view that is easy to understand. In addition TNCS will aggregate the alarms, perform multi site backup schemes and retain historical logs for alarms, system executables, and software status for all of the ROSA EM sites. The simple point and click drill down method utilized in TNCS allows the user to pinpoint a problem to a specific device(s) at a specific ROSA EM site within seconds of an alarm. TNCS is particularly well suited for the local operators of broadband networks.

  • ROSA Client

    • Using a ROSA client will also aggregate the ROSA EM sites into a single network view, perform sophisticated back up routines and retain the historical logs. However, ROSA goes well beyond the aggregation functionality, with its relational database, ROSA can track device specific performance data. This capability allows ROSA to produce performance and trending reports on the network, the managed devices, and overall system performance. Additionally many advanced tasks have been developed in ROSA that enhances the value of S-A manufactured equipment. ROSA client is ideally suited for engineers in charge of maintaining the performance of the broadband networks.

  • Third Party Client

    • Many system operators have invested millions of dollars in overall Network Management Systems (NMS) supplied by third parties. ROSA EM is ideally suited to integrate into these overall NMS. The northbound SNMP interface in ROSA EM supports Traps, Gets and Sets which allows the overall NMS to capture any alarm produced by ROSA EM, request specific information from ROSA EM and instruct ROSA EM to make changes to devices. The web server in ROSA EM makes integration in to the NMS much easier because the NMS operator only has to launch a browser to view the details of an alarmed device from the operations center.

Another unique feature of ROSA EM is that it can be used in any one of the above client applications or any two or three or all four simultaneously. ROSA EM can be configured to do as much or as little as required to meet the needs of the technicians and engineers charged with managing the broadband network.
