ROSA Network Management System

Architecture
The ROSA software has client-server architecture. The ROSA Network Management Server provides the server functionality. The ROSA client software provides the client functionality. The main tasks of the NMS server are:

  • To provide a model for all managed resources (devices or tasks). ROSA user interface is merely visualization these object models. This model can be accessed by ROSA as well as by other management systems through the built-in SNMP agent.

  • To support local automation tasks (e.g. automatic backup of defective devices).

  • To offer a service model that contains the information that is shared between different devices

  • To log performance and availability data

Multiple clients can be connected to one NMS server and one client can supervise many NMS servers.

The ROSA client application provides graphical views on the network structure and status, alarm and message logs, access to device configuration menus and powerful tools to analyze the performance of the network or devices. Furthermore administrative menus are available to define the access rights for the different users of the system (security management) and for declaring the interconnections between the devices (configuration management).
