Broadband Headend Maintenance Certification Program
Level 2

Description
The Broadband Headend Maintenance Certification (BHMC) designation demonstrates the Technician’s ability to configure the Headend equipment and perform testing and monitoring of signal integrity, to ensure that FCC and Signal Quality standards are met.

Level 2 Certification is earned by passing a 4-6 hour practical exam administered by qualified Scientific Atlanta Headend Representatives.

The certification testing is held at the Scientific Atlanta's Training Center in Lawrenceville, GA. SciCare Training maintains a fully dedicated training laboratory under controlled conditions to administer the testing. Potential candidates must pass the written exam and earn Level 1 Certification prior to scheduling the practical exam for Level 2 Certification.

To successfully pass the practical examination, candidates must complete all tasks correctly.

Requirements
Prerequisites are not required for any candidate. However, Scientific Atlanta Institute highly recommends attendance in the Headend Technology, Operating a Headend Systems, and DBDS Headend Maintenance courses. All three courses are conducted in an interactive, instructor-led classroom format.

The certification requires knowledge and skills in the use of Satellite receivers, Scramblers, Controllers, Modulators, Stereo Encoders, RF Signal managers, Optical transmitters and receivers, along with various pieces of testing equipment.

Potential candidates for this certification include:

  • Headend Technicians
