User
Defined Displays
TNCS provides color-coded graphical displays that represent
network devices in simple block diagrams and drawings.
Display screens are
automatically generated for the portion of the network requested
by the operator. Bit-maps, vector-based drawing primitives, and
text elements are combined to provide simple intuitive
representations of the elements that make up a transmission
network.
TNCS provides a simple text
language that can be used to produce custom display
representations. The TNCS administrator can:
- Set up and specify a custom
display type
- Specify a drawing mode for a
portion of the network
If a drawing mode is not
specified, two types of graphics are produced:
- For group devices, TNCS
produces a simple group icon display with icons for each
child item in the requested group.
- Icons show individual device status as well as group
status, and change color based on status. The icons flash
when an alarm is active and unacknowledged.
- For leaf devices (monitored
equipment), a simple text screen is produced with data
arranged by major categories, e.g. alarms, configuration,
properties, etc.
- Data items that can be changed by the operator are
displayed in bold. Selecting that data field for the item
allows the operator to request and send a configuration
change command to the device
